Formada em 1996, Coldplay é uma banda de rock alternativo britânica. Foi criada por Chris Martin (vocalista) e por Jonny Buckland (guitarrista) no University College London, o nome inicial da banda era Pectoralz, vindo a se chamar Coldplay apenas em 1998. O single "Yellow" foi o responsável por consagrar a banda mundialmente. A banda já ganhou seis Brit Awards — vencendo o de Melhor Grupo Britanico três vezes, quatro MTV Video Music Awards, e sete Prêmios Grammy entre vinte indicações. Coldplay já vendeu mais de 50 milhões de discos em todo o mundo.
